Am now excitedly working with paper ... on canvas ... with graphite and a bit 'o paint, in this case.
The reference is to minimalist painter Agnes Martin ... see the graphite lines between borders.
Agnes was born & raised in small town Saskatchewan (as was I). Her huge white canvases covered with tiny pencil lines evoked the peace of the large horizons in which we grew.
As well this piece is reflective of the craft of the women of the prairie: quilting AND the screens behind which they lived their lives.
